first drop summer 2020 clothing

14 April 2020.  Can it be that summer is actually on its way? Our first drop of early summer clothing has arrived and we can't help but feel a bit of hope. Even if it's not super warm yet and we continue to safely distance, that won't stop us from dreaming up what we want to wear as the temps rise. Here's a little selection of what we've got:

Carissa Dress: This one's adorable with short sleeves, a flowing skirt and a drawstring waist that gives you as much definition (or as little) as you want. We think it would be great for layering long sleeves either over or under if the weather is a bit cool. In Turquoise, Black, and Jane Plaid.

Adalina Dress: This season's uniform in our opinion! Sleeveless, in an easy pullover style, this one invites layering in early summer and respite from hot weather as temperatures warm up. In Black and Steph Plaid.

Emelina Dress: A lovely tunic dress with patch pockets on the front and a mandarin style collar with pearl buttons. This dress can go from casual to elegant at the drop of a hat. In Blue Dur and Black Houndstooth.

Catarina Jumpsuit: A shortsleeved jumpsuit with a round collar, cropped length, and patch pockets at the front, this is an easy all-in-one outfit for summer. In Black and Acier.

Eliana Pants: Maybe the only pants you'll need this summer! Simple, with a comfortable dropped crotch and elasticized waist.  The Eliana pants come in Acier, Albatre, Nuit and Black. Could you ask for anything more?

Adora Top: A button down collared shirt with full short sleeves that hit just above the elbow. This versatile shirt can to be worn with the buttons down the front or the back. Your choice! In Rose and Ardoise.

Ilana Top: This short sleeved shirt has a cropped boxy fit and a front chest pocket. We love the notched collar. Great for days when you don't want to tuck anything in. In Ivoire and Kateryn.

There's so much more on our website too. Please have a look here!

As always, please reach out to us if you have any questions regarding sizing.  We try to include as many measurements as possible in all of our product descriptions, but if you have further questions you can reach us here: info[at]shop-foglinen[dot]com

COVID-19 UPDATE: In light of the evolving health crisis, we will continue online operations with our warehouse following the recommendations from the CDC to ensure a clean, sanitized environment for our staff and our goods. We will be limiting our shipping days to Tuesdays and Fridays. If you live locally, we'd be happy to arrange a delivery. Stay healthy friends. We'll keep you posted as things develop here.

bread and kitchen cloths

7 April 2020. In the span of a few short months, our lives have changed forever. While we absorb this change, we're taking great comfort in our kitchens. As we get creative with pantry staples we have on hand, we've been simmering lots of beans, making fried rice out of refrigerator leftovers and making (and eating) a lot of bread with those packets of yeast that have been sitting around waiting for a rainy day. Guess what? That day is here.

In the midst of our kitchen messes, we've become even more thankful for our beloved kitchen cloths. Although we agree they're very pretty, they are not afraid of hard work. In two weights, regular and thick, our cloths are up to your kitchen challenges. Made from 100% linen that's grown, woven and sewn in Lithuania, our cloths are on hand to help with a variety of kitchen tasks from wiping up spills and drying dishes, to keeping rising dough covered on our countertops.

We love seeing how one of our favorite food bloggers, Marcella DiLonardo, AKA Modest Marce, is using our Jenn kitchen cloth as she makes challah bread. With the April holidays coming up, we've bookmarked two of her bread recipes to try out: her chocolate and almond swirl bread and her cinnamon roll challah. And if there are any leftovers (although we can't imagine how) her recipe for challah bread pudding sounds divine.  You'll be able to find these recipes and more in her book, Bake the Seasons. It's a keeper for sure.

Here's wishing you health and peace from our kitchen to yours.

home comforts

COVID-19 UPDATE: Dear Friends, in light of the evolving health crisis, we will be closing our storefront ( the one we share with Pod) in Cambridge, MA, until further notice. All online operations will continue with our warehouse following the recommendations from the CDC to ensure a clean, sanitized environment for our staff and our goods. If you live locally, we'd be happy to arrange a delivery. Stay healthy friends. We'll keep you posted as things develop here.

12 March 2020. Sometimes we all need a little comfort. This could take the form of something comfortable or comforting. We'll take either option right now! Because we feel most at home with linen, we'd like to recommend a few things that bring comfort to our daily lives.

The Oise Pant: loose fit, drawstring waist, perfect for a day at home. This season we're offering the Oise pant in George, black and albatre

Washed waffle blankets: the softest linen, which only becomes softer with each wash, this blanket is such a nice weight for spring and summer. We find its texture especially comforting when we are curled up on the couch.  In natural and grey.

Linen slippers: in chocolate herringbone, natural, and graphite, these slippers are nice for padding around the house with or without socks.

Eye mask: for helping you get some shut-eye, our classic eye mask is tailored in linen. Light-weight with a comfortable, adjustable velcro strap. A double layer of linen keeps light out.

Aside from taking comfort in layering ourselves in linen, we take great comfort in food and cooking for friends and family.  When we saw this spicy baked pasta recipe from Alison Roman, we knew it was one we'd want to share.  We're going to try it over the weekend.  Let us know if you give it a go!

We'll also be seeking comfort at home doing puzzles, having a good read, watching something great from our couch, and dreaming of fun plans for better times ahead. We hope these suggestions will bring some comfort to you as well.

for your little spring arrival

25 February 2020.  For extra special spring arrivals we have a great selection of baby clothing and gifts. This year there are a few new additions to our collection we'd like to share with you.

First up, our terry loop cotton socks. These are super soft against tiny feet with extra stretch for room to grow. They fit size 0-12 months and come in ivory, blue, and pink.

Also new to the mix is our short sleeve baby jumpsuit. It's a soft, short-sleeved onesie and perfect for the newborn in your life. Made of 100% organic cotton, it fits size 0-3 months.

Our perennial favorite for babies is our best-selling cotton baby blanket, a beautiful, 100% cotton knit blanket in a soft, dye-free, natural ivory. It makes a lovely heirloom quality gift.

And could anything be cuter than our linen baby shoes? These darling little slippers have a shell button closure. You'll want to save them to pass along to another special baby in your life. Fits 0-6 months.

You can see all of our baby items here.

If you're purchasing a baby gift to send to a special little someone, we'd be happy to wrap it for you. Just leave us a note in the comment section on your order and we'll wrap your item in simple white paper and a little bit of ribbon. We can also include a handwritten note on one of our postcards. Let us know what you'd like the message to say.  We'd love to help you send a warm welcome to all new arrivals!

bath refresh

17 February 2020. Sometimes little things can make a big difference. While most of us would probably love to renovate an out-dated bathroom, we've got a few tricks up our sleeve for refreshing your space without all the fuss, bother and grand expense.

Here's our cheat sheet for an instant re-fresh.

Formerly our chambray kitchen cloth, this new medium size chambray towel is perfect for a hand or hair towel in your bathroom. In natural stripe, navy stripe, and grey. And yes, they match our larger bath size chambray towel.

Simple beauty for your bath, our linen massage bath mat is practical and pretty.  In natural and white, you'll love how the texture of this mat feels on bare feet.

Two great things that go great together: our linen knit washcloth and linen massage bath mitten. A really nice and natural way to get clean. All-natural linen is good for your bod and dries quickly in your bathroom.

Linen waffle towels. Based on traditional European towels, Fog uses raw linen to create a textile that is long-lasting and gets softer and more absorbent with each wash. Plus, the waffle texture gently exfoliates as you dry. We love the look and texture of these towels, they are a pleasure to use daily. We offer a range of four sizes, from washcloths to extra large bath towels, in natural and white.

And last, but not least, a fresh and clean upgrade for the lowly toilet paper holder. Our brass and iron holders manage to do their job beautifully with a timeless minimalist profile.

You can find more great bath products in our bed & bath section.

spring 2020 clothing

31 January 2020.  Spring's not quite around the corner, but our spring clothing is! We've just unpacked our first round of the 2020 spring clothing line and we've got loads of new colors and shapes to share.

First off...two things we're really excited about. Denim White and Morocco Red.  Both these colors are new this spring, and although they are polar opposites, we think they'll add some spring to your step, so to speak.

We introduced our linen denim line last fall, and now we've added Denim White to the mix. We really love the weight of this linen. It's a tightly woven fabric of 100% soft, but thick, white denim colored linen thread, which offers warmth and flexibility. This spring we're offering the Allison Pant, the Kristin Kurta, the Meg Tuck Sarrouel Pants, and the Traci Overalls in Denim White.

Morocco Red packs a glorious color punch. It's a deep cherry red that seems to flatter everyone.  We love it in the Hanna Tunic. It's also lovely in the Charlotte Top and the Neive Top.

We're also loving:

The Ruby Shirt with its little shell buttons and notched collar.

The Ellie Overalls, because they are super cute and have adjustable straps on the bib.  We can't wait to layer our favorite shirts under this one.

The Jodi Work Coat in a deep blue...because the color is  gorgeous.

The Nancy Wide Leg Pants with a beautiful wide palazzo-style leg.  Swishy and flattering.

The Molly Dress with its delicate pin-tucks across the chest...just the best little detail.

And last but not least our new line of linen leggings...perfect to wear under all our dresses, skirts, tunics, and coats to keep the chill of early spring in check.

You can see the whole collection here.

fresh start

28 January 2020.  Welcome to the new year and a fresh start! We're settling into 2020 quite nicely and we hope you are as well. After a whirl-wind holiday season it's nice to enjoy a slower pace for a moment.

We've been noticing a wonderful trend lately, one that certainly lends itself to a quiet and cold month. Mending! Mending is a great way to extend the life of your favorite clothing. It's really pretty easy to repair small holes and tears in clothing yourself. There are some great tutorials around on how to repair clothing by hand using simple sewing and patching techniques. All you need besides know-how are a needle and thread and some fabric scraps, and we've been thinking our linen remnant sets are the perfect thing to get you started on your mending projects.

We have a few different sizes of remnant sets in our Etc. section (just scroll down to the bottom to see all the choices).

We've found these mending tutorials from Julie O'Rourke to be really helpful. You can find them in her Instagram stories under "mending" on her Instagram account, Rudyjude.

Get your needles ready folks, and bring some new life to old favorites.

just in: linen leggings

21 January 2020.  Great news for those of you who fell in love with our wool leggings last fall. We've got them in linen for Spring 2020! Made of 80% linen and 20% nylon for a touch of stretch, these leggings are the perfect layering weight for winter into spring, or any season for that matter. They're offered in a range of neutral tones that will complement any outfit. We're just having a hard time deciding which color is our favorite. Let us know how you'll layer them. We love seeing how you style your Fog Linen on Instagram, so give us a #shopfoglinen when you post.

napkins/holiday entertaining

17 December 2019.  Every year we like to remind folks about using our napkins for holiday entertaining.  We love the mood they add to any winter gathering: a little elegance, but nothing too fussy.

Once we've got our table settings covered, we can start dreaming about what to serve.

For a cozy evening with friends, nothing beats the simplicity of serving a hearty soup with fresh bread and a green salad.  Erin Boyle of Reading My Tea Leaves, has some great winter soup suggestions here.

For a larger gathering or a cocktail party,  we have our eye on these recipes from one of our favorite food bloggers, Marcella DiLeonardo of Modest Marce.

Artichoke and Spinach Dip

Winter Night Cheeseboard

Roasted Beet Hummus

Cranberry Mule Cocktail/Mocktail

Pro tip: Napkins make a wonderful host or hostess gift.

Here's wishing that all your gatherings will be filled with merriment and joy.
